Let Love Be

December 17, 2015 By Kim

nature making love
Let Love sit down at your table
Let it sit you down too
Open your window
Let it shine through
Let it cover you, bathe you
Let Love save you
Let it make your coffee, your bed
Let Love seep and crawl into your head
Through your ears, your mouth, your eyes
Let it wallow, let it wander
Let it massage you inside
Let it twist and turn
Let it galvanize
Let it make you dizzy
When Love is like rain
Spread your arms, open your mouth
Swallow it, gallons of it,
Let it fill you
To the brim
And let it spill from you
Then scoop it right back in
Warm it up
And let it melt
Let it slide, and trickle down,
Let it drip,
Drip, drip from your mouth
In sweet words whispered
Let it flow from your heart,
like a beating, pulsing,
River of Peace
Wrap it in a blanket
 Swaddle it, cradle it
tenderly, carefully, hold it
Carry Love,
Fragile Love,
like a tiny, newborn baby
Love is but a sweet little face
Looking up at you
Trusting you
Waiting for you
To pour yourself out
To pour your own love into its’ open, little mouth
Be the mother
Loves’ Darling Mother
Let Love be young, innocent, new
And let it be your friend too
Talk to Love
Will it
Nurture it
Coax it
Tickle it
It is alive
And it needs you
To exist
Divine Love needs to be kissed and kissed
and it needs to hold your hand,
It needs to walk by your side,
let it cling to you, let it ignite from you
Then feed and fuel it
Stoke the embers
And let it smolder
let it flicker and pop
Lay your sweet self out for it
Lay your battered soul bare for it
Don’t you ever let it stop
Surrender now
Bow down,
simply drop your head
drop to your knees
and
bow
down
to
Love
Because Love wins.
It wins, and wins
and then guess what?
It wins again.
Let it
Let it be
Let Love be
Let Love
honestly,
gently,
humbly,
quietly,
profoundly,
be.

About Kim

I am a poet, a writer, an over-the-top mischief maker, a trash talker, and an old school dirty bird. I will never (ever) say no to a properly aerated glass of Malbec on a Friday night. I use words like “feminist” and “sartorial” and “no” and actively flirt with a decline in readership whenever I put them all into one, cohesive sentence. I like mountain biking, trails, succulents, books, inspirational quotes and vivid dreams. I strive to live with a grateful, open heart. What I know to be true is that there is always time for personal reflection and change. It's never too late to grow new wings and learn to fly again. Namaste!

My essays and poetry can also be found at Rebelle Society, The Elephant Journal, The Manifest-Station, The Minds Journal, The Imperfect Parent, Scary Mommy, BonBon Break, Litchfield Magazine, The Block Island Times, and Today's Mama.
