I Came Back

September 28, 2017 By Kim Leave a Comment

Last night, Corpse Pose brought me back to life. A few weeks ago, I sat down to really think about why I wasn’t “happy, silly old me” anymore. Nothing seemed exciting in my world (except for the season premier of This Is Us). I’ve been dragging myself around for a while now. I’m still having my special […]

Be Still My Jaded Heart

July 13, 2017 By Kim 10 Comments

If you’re anything like me, the Donald Trump presidency (along with soul sapping politics in general and all the hammering, relentless media coverage that goes with it) has indeed knocked the wind right out of my sails. My shoulders droop. I have deeper wrinkles in my forehead from making the “WTF face” all day long. I’m often […]

Watch Those Voices Bow Down

May 29, 2017 By Kim 2 Comments

“Change the voices in your head. Make them like you instead.” ~ Pink  Those strong-arm voices inside your head that say, “no you can’t” are liars. They want you to quit. Shut them down. Yes, right now. They are not your friends. The voice imploring you to just keep your mouth closed, the one saying don’t argue, don’t resist, or persist, or protest. The one […]

About Kim

I am a poet, a writer, an over-the-top mischief maker, a trash talker, and an old school dirty bird. I will never (ever) say no to a properly aerated glass of Malbec on a Friday night. I use words like “feminist” and “sartorial” and “no” and actively flirt with a decline in readership whenever I put them all into one, cohesive sentence. I like dogs, trails, succulents, books, and dreams. I could easily devour 5 salted avocados every day if left unattended. I strive to live with a grateful, open heart. What I know to be true is that there is always time for personal reflection and change. It's never too late to grow new wings and learn to fly again. Namaste!

My essays and poetry can also be found at Rebelle Society, The Elephant Journal, The Manifest-Station, The Minds Journal, The Imperfect Parent, Scary Mommy, BonBon Break, and Today's Mama.

I was interviewed for Weeklyfindings.com for the Wholly Curious: Meaningful Work section. The article appears here: http://www.weeklyfindings.com/whollycuriousinterviews/volume-2-issue-no-1
